In 2009, the Short Mountain Landfill accepted over 222,000 tons of Lane County's trash (that's 609 tons every day of the year!). Of that total, slightly more than half came from Lane County's 16 public transfer sites; the remainder was dumped directly at the landfill by commercial garbage haulers and contractors.
